How to gain access to the chat rooms:

l. Log on to http://www.longridgewritersgroup.com

2. Click on chat rooms in the paragraph of text

3. Click on "Professional Connection" link in text for scheduled Thursday night interviews and Tuesday Open Forums

4. Click on "General Chat Room" to chat with friends anytime. Then create your account (if you haven't already):

Instructions for Creating a Chat Account:

"Click" the blue CREATE ACCOUNT button to create your account. This takes you to the New User Registration, where you will have some required blanks to fill, then some optional blanks to fill if you like. This information is kept totally confidential. Your e-mail address is not revealed.

Enter USER NAME: Choose any word you want to be known by in the chat room. You may use your actual first name, or both first and last name.

Enter PASSWORD: Choose any password you like. Make it easy to remember.

Scroll down the right side bar to the bottom, then "click" on the SUBMIT INFO blue button. At the next screen, "click" on the ENTER NOW blue button. The chat window can take a couple of minutes to fully load. You will type your messages in the blank line at the bottom.

WARNING!! If you are on AOL and using AOL's browser, it has been known to freeze or lock up. If you're already having problems with the AOL browser, then trying to use chat is only going to make these problems appear more frequently (HTML chat is like going to a new web site every 15 seconds or whatever you have the refresh set to). It's recommended in that case that you download and install the latest Internet Explorer or Netscape Communicator--if you don't have it--and use that browser for chatting. (Find these downloads at their home page sites, either www.netscape.com or http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download/windows.htm

2. You will be given two choices when you enter the chat room: Java script or HTML. If you have a Mac computer, or you are on AOL, you *may* need to use HTML format, but I'd suggest trying Java first, as it is a more user-friendly screen, I think. All other computers work best with the Java script. If you question whether your Javascript and Java are enabled, check that you have both turned on. In Netscape 3 (Windows) it's under Options/Network Preferences/Languages.

NOTE: FOR THE SPECIFIC FORMAT YOU USE, YOU WILL NEED TO FOLLOW THE APPROPRIATE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN LOGGING ON (JAVA INSTRUCTIONS OR HTML).

3. If you log on with one form, but then want to change to another format, the following url will take you back to the login page to start over:
