2005 Second Annual Dog Story Contest

Dog Lovers, put your dog out, sit down and write your favorite dog story!

To celebrate dog stories and the human-dog bond (and because we just love a good dog story), Doghero.com announces the Second Annual Dog Story Contest. The contest is for non-fiction stories of dog heroes, favorite dogs, and interesting or funny dog stories. The winner will receive $125, second place $75, and third place $50. Fourth and fifth places will each receive $25. Winning stories (and up to ten honorable mention stories) will be posted on doghero.com and considered for publication in an anthology of dog stories. Read last years winning stories!

Please send this page to any friends who might be interested in submitting a story.

Contest Rules

Entry deadline: August 1, 2005. Winners will be announced in October (possibly later depending on the number of entries).

Stories can be up to 2,000 words in length, and must be written in English. Do not send poetry, fiction, or essays.

Please be sure to spell-check your story and proof read for typos, grammar, etc. We reserve the right to edit stories for punctuation and spelling.

There is no entry fee or limit to the number of stories you can submit. (Each story must be sent separately).

Entries from all countries are welcome.

Stories should be e-mailed to storycontest@doghero.com with the subject line "Dog Story Contest Entry." The story should be pasted into the body of the e-mail with your name, e-mail, telephone number and the title of the story at the top of the page. For security, attachments will not be opened.

·         First Place -- $125

·         Second place -- $75

·         Third place - $50

·         Fourth and fifth places -- $25 each

Winning stories will be posted on our website. All stories will also be considered for publication in an anthology of dog stories.

By entering the contest, if your story is a winner or selected for an honorable mention, you are giving doghero.com the right to post your story on the website and permission to include it in an anthology (if one is published in the future, which is not guaranteed). Otherwise, doghero.com has no rights to the stories.
